If you play with fire, you're liable to get burned. If we entertain the thought of a health care overhaul as it is currently drafted, we the people will get burned. Contrary to what might be expected, I'm initially on the fence with how I feel about the Senate voting for cloture on health care reform. While I find it despicable that Senator Landrieu essentially sold her vote on what could cost American's trillions of dollars for $300 million in concessions to her state of Alabama...I also believe in honest and rigorous debate where facts win. While I'm not in favor of putting our world class health care industry in the hands of the government, I badly want to believe that logic will play center stage in this debate...leading to only one outcome. So do we trust our legislators to put aside partisanship and debate the issue based on the details of the bill? My initial thought is how can we when they allowed this bill a cloture vote, voting completely on party lines with all 60 Democrats voting for cloture and all 39 Republicans voting against cloture. When did the spin begin for Obama’s White House? I think this a version of the question, what came first…the chicken or the egg, so I’m pretty sure you can’t answer the spin question. Remember when the White House said that Obama didn’t bow when he met the Saudi King Abdullah. In case you don’t remember, here’s the clip. Here’s a teaser. Did you know that American’s work an average of 103 days out of the year to pay for their taxes? If this bill passes, that number will definitely go up. Read on to find out how much. Let’s do some basic math to look at the cost of the proposed health care overhaul. I won’t remind you that this will drastically change the infrastructure of our health care industry…costing us much more than just money. Nah, that seems to be an argument nobody is listening to. The Congressional Budget Office initially estimated that the cost of the overhaul would be around $870 billion dollars. Now that the proposal is getting ironed out, it is estimated that it will cost MORE than $1 trillion dollars over the next ten years. Some estimates are at $1.26 trillion. Now, let’s do the math with some very basic numbers and a few justifiable assumptions. To make it easy, let’s assume the cost of the proposal is $1,000,000,000,000.00 instead of $1.26. I’m sure the cost will stay there because the government never goes over budget... The annual cost is $100,000,000,000.00. ...

The House Committee on Ways and Means released a report today. The report showed that employment numbers have dropped in 49/50 states in the seven months following the economic stimulus package. North Dakota was the lone state with an increase in jobs…an increase of 1,800 jobs. That’s the silver lining if you want to call it that. The reality is that in the last seven months since the plan passed, more than 2,708,000 jobs have been lost. 2008 wasn’t a good year either but we lost 2.6 million jobs in the entire year. During the last seven months, we’ve lost 2.7 million jobs alone. In Obama’s numerous addresses to lobby for his stimulus plan, he stated that if action wasn’t taken immediately(so immediately that House Democrats couldn’t even allow 24 hours to pass for the 1100 page document to be reviewed), unemployment could reach double digits. Bad news B.O. Now 10 months into your presidency, there are at least 15 states with double digit unemployment. Did you use fuzzy economics to come up with your figures, or were you just trying to scare people into supporting your give away? I feel like I’m the last person paying attention. Either American’s are quietly hiding their anger at where America is headed or they just don’t care anymore. Our apologetic president keeps pushing for more programs we’ll never be able to pay for; the dollar is on its deathbed, and our nation’s sovereignity is being sold out. I’m going to ask you to help me see the logic in this administrations current actions, because I’m not seeing it. Approved by Obama, Hilary Clinton has agreed to allow Russian military investigators into all of our United States nuke locations to “inspect”. Doesn’t that seem like a questionable action? What do we get in return for this? Is it smart for us to allow Russia access to such secret locations that undoubtedly contain important military secrets? What do you get when you mix a mockery with something that is already a mockery to begin with? A Nobel Peace Prize. I noticed quite a few people upset and annoyed about the Nobel Award to Obama today. Really? That’s like getting upset that someone on The Huffington Post wrote an anti-conservative comment that had no factual basis. So, before you get upset, remember that liberal’s tend to respond on emotion and Republican’s typically are more concerned with the facts. Fact 1: This one is just funny. The deadline for nominations for the prize was Feb. 1 -- two weeks after Mr. Obama was inaugurated. Seriously Nobel committee…seriously? One of the first acts of his presidency was to sign legislation that will increase the slaughter of unborn children, yet he had so many more accomplishments under his belt in the first two weeks that this legislation can be overlooked. I’m tired of all the arguments I keep seeing from the right. You know, the ones that start with, “If Bush did that, there would be a march on the White House”. While there is definitely a strong bias in the media to cover for Obama, the white horse Obama rode in on, decorated with banners of “Change” and “Yes we can”, has been put out to pasture and we probably won’t see it again until 2012’s campaign season(unless you ride the Metro in DC and every other person is still wearing the worlds most tacky Obama merchandise…that’s not a hit on the President. I had an interaction recently with an Obama supporter. The interaction wasn’t unlike how many other interactions would go, but there were some key things to point out. A little background will help though. This person works in the media, big surprise, but they also work as an educator for college students in the field of………political science. So, we’re not talking about just some random person off the street, we’re talking about an enlightened mind. First off, this interaction caused me to rethink what I call Obama supporters. The conversation started when this person saw Obama on TV. Without cause or reason, she extended both her arms widely, brought them tightly into her chest, and her gaze widened as she bellowed to the entire room, “Oh, I just lovvvvvvve that man.” Hmmm, interesting response. I immediately responded how I found her emotional response to our president a little odd and how that just might possibly cloud any logical judgment she might have…but she disagreed in a way that proved my point.
