Canada’s own chooses to cross the border for health care.
Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams makes the exact case for why Obama’s health care reform is a bad idea. Through his actions and his words, he exclaims brilliantly why copying a system like Canada’s is not in our best interest.
Premier Williams recently traveled to the United States for heart surgery. You heard that right…the PREMIER didn’t rely on Canada’s amazing healthcare system…no, he went to America. Williams said, “I did not sign away my right to get the best possible health care for myself when I entered politics.”
Sir, I couldn’t have said it better myself. Williams adds a little icing on the cake when he said, “I would’ve been criticized if I had stayed in Canada and had been perceived as jumping a line or a wait list. … I accept that. That’s public life…(But) this is not a unique phenomenon to me. This is something that happens with lots of families throughout this country, so I make no apologies for that.”
Thank you Premier Williams. You wrapped up a few quality points.
1: You can get the best care in the United States.
2: A universal healthcare system lowers the quality of care received.
3: Often, Canadians have to wait for care though even when medical attention is urgent.
Yet, somehow…Obama continues to push this healthcare reform agenda when American’s just don’t want it. Enough is enough.
In case you were wondering, Williams paid for the surgery and will seek some reimbursement from Canada’s health system if they are allowed. But the bottom line is that good health care is worth it!
