Michael Jackson, the Golden Calf-sket.

Are you kidding me? Michael Jackson? Yes, I had to say Michael Jackson in the first two sentences because this generation is so depraved and confused that if I talked about a real subject like Iran or North Korea, you’d be bored and would tune out unless I talked about a crotch grabbing, confused, sexually lost guy that could dance well. But what has Michael Jackson given us? Thriller? Bad? Yeah, that’s nice but those are just songs. America has idolized a man with a severe identity crisis, drug addiction, and child obsession more than they have paid attention to the thousands of soldiers sacrificing their lives for our greater good.

During the week that thousands of Iranian’s cried out for the leader of the free world to speak out against their nations injustice, Obama sat silent while Iranian’s protested and were executed…but less than 24 hours after Michael Jackson’s death Obama made a public statement about the loss of MJ and the House had a moment of silence. A moment of silence? I wanted to throw up. We are honoring a man whose contribution over this last decade was plastic surgery horror pictures, child molestation cases, and confusing relationships that somehow led to children.

We gather to celebrate this? THIS? Where is the memorial service with the thousands of crying Americans for the soldier that died protecting our freedom and the freedom of others? Where is the round the clock coverage for the support of the soldier who jumped on a grenade to save the lives of his fellow soldiers? Where is their golden casket? Where is their memorial song? Where is the sadness over the loss of them? Millions cry over the loss of this confused man who could move his feet well. Where have our priorities gone? What has happened to this nation where this is the type of person we hold up as worthy of receiving such honor?

Yes, we are a forgiving nation…but just like a battered woman can forgive her abuser, that doesn’t mean she should pretend it never happened and run back to the abuser. Likewise, sure, Michael Jackson had great music that can be measured by the number of records he sold, but I’m not so quick to forget what type of depraved and confused individual Michael Jackson was. So, go drink your Jesus Juice at Neverland Ranch and pretend this man was someone worthy of worship. When you wake up, I fear what the parents of our next generation of children will be like. I hereby take it as an honor to be despised by people because if Michael Jackson is who we look to for inspiration, I’d like to be the opposite. So, raise your golden calf. I can be sad about the loss of a life, especially a life that was so lost…but I will not join you in worshiping this person as though they were something worthy of praise.

What a gem of a blog you’ve got here, Mr. Bob. Thank you for sharing your very well formed and informed opinions for all to see and comment on. I hope to see an increase in traffic to your blog site so that others might soon create discussion off of your thoughts, as they have proven quite thought provoking and bold.

Also, I agree with you that it is such a shame what our country and its leaders find in high priority any more. As talented as Mr. Jackson may have been, the value of his potential to “change” lives will never compare to the value of those lives which are saved nor sacrificed daily on any battlefield.
